WorkAmerica, a Washington, D.C.-based recruiting company, is working with Tennessee Colleges of Applied Technology to build the state’s workforce and connect students to job opportunities.

The partnership, formed by the Tennessee Chamber of Commerce & Industry and the Tennessee Manufacturers Association, is designed to help companies find workers in skilled trades and allied health by giving them online access to students in Tennessee training programs.

“WorkAmerica was created to bridge the skills gap by creating an online way for vocational students and employers to connect,” Collin Gutman, CEO of WorkAmerica, said in a prepared statement. “The current education to employment system for careers in the skilled trades and allied health is antiquated, leaving employers and students in the dark regarding available candidates and open positions.”

Tennessee Colleges of Applied Technology has 54 campuses and more than 20 training programs. Students and graduates will be able to post information on WorkAmerica’s online platform, allowing employers to find new hires. WorkAmerica is working with 250 schools nationwide.

“We are excited to bring WorkAmerica to Tennessee,” said Catherine Glover, CEO of the Tennessee Chamber of Commerce & Industry and the Tennessee Manufacturers Association. “WorkAmerica will be a valuable resource for Tennessee job creators and will be yet another tool for strengthening our state’s robust economy.”
