Music festivals 2023: Lineups for Riot Fest in Chicago, Music Midtown in Atlanta, Bonnaroo and more

The spring music festival season is in full bloom – and the summer and fall fest schedule is filling out, too.

The latest festivals to be announced: Riot Fest, held Sept. 15-17 in Chicago, with headliners including Foo Fighters, The Postal Service, Death Cab For Cutie, The Cure, and Queens of the Stone Age, and the same weekend in Atlanta is Music Midtown with headliners including Billie Eilish, Pink, The 1975, Guns N' Roses, Lil Baby and Pitbull.

Tickets are on sale now for Riot Fest, held in Chicago's Douglass Park. Tickets go on sale for Music Midtown on Thursday, May 18.

On that same weekend, right before the beginning of fall, these other musical gatherings will be held: the Sea Hear Now Festival, at the Asbury Park (New Jersey) Waterfront, where Foo Fighters will headline on Saturday, Sept. 17 (The Killers headline on Saturday, Sept. 16); and Bourbon and Beyond Festival, in Louisville, where The Killers will headline on Friday, Sept. 15, and other headliners include Bruno Mars, Brandi Carlile, The Black Keys, The Avett Brothers, Blondie, Jon Batiste, Brittany Howard, Hozier, Billy Strings, and Train.

The following month, a new fall fest, the Power Trip festival, will be held at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, Oct. 6-8, featuring Guns N' Roses, Iron Maiden, AC/DC, Ozzy Osbourne, Metallica and Tool.

The Foo Fighters, making a full-fledged return following the death of drummer Taylor Hawkins in March 2022, will also be playing the Boston Calling Music Festival, held over Memorial Day weekend, on May 26, followed by a string of festivals through the summer and fall including the Sonic Temple Art & Music Festival (May 28), Bonnaroo (June 18), Harley-Davidson Homecoming Festival (July 15), Outside Lands (Aug. 12), Louder Than Life (Sept. 21), and the Ohana Music Festival (Oct. 1).
