Holy happily ever after, Batman!

When Colton Dixon wed Annie Coggeshall in Nashville last Friday, fantasy met fairytale – and PEOPLE has all the details.

The bride, 27, wore a Cinderella-worthy organza gown by Vera Wang (“It felt like I was going to a ball to get married!” she says), while self-proclaimed “Batman nerd” Dixon, 24, hid a caped crusader T-shirt under his custom tux and was flanked by a half-dozen groomsmen also wearing superhero shirts beneath their suits.

The cosplay shirts were a wedding day surprise from the American Idol alum’s mother, Teresa.

“This was a mom’s last gift to her son as a single man,” Dixon’s proud mom tells PEOPLE, adding that the Christian singer (whose Instagram account features several photos of the singer in Dark Knight gear) has a life-sized Batman costume in his media room at home. “Knowing how huge a fan he was, I wanted to do something special for the wedding.”

Despite the comic book attire, much of the wedding was storybook inspired. Take, for instance, the glass slipper decorating the cake table. The stunning touch pays homage to the couple’s engagement at Disney World, during which Dixon hid the ring in Cinderella’s glass slipper.

And at the end of the night, just before the clock struck midnight, the bride and groom rode off in a Cinderella-style horse-drawn carriage.

“It was wonderful,” Dixon says. “I don’t think it’s all hit me yet.”
