    Historic Turnout

A total of 56 exhibitors presented from 15 different states at the College of Pharmacy Career Expo, held Friday, February 5.

Career Expo Achieves Virtual Success

As with most in-person meetings and events over the past year, the third annual Career Expo for the College of Pharmacy had to make major adjustments. Fortunately, vendors from across the country in a wide range of pharmaceutical fields, including retail, community, hospital, technology, and entrepreneurial stepped up to provide opportunities for students to learn more about the variety of paths available for them in their future careers.

The number of participating vendors increased significantly from 22 last year to 56 for this year’s event, many of whom are alumni of the College of Pharmacy. The virtual format allowed more than 330 first through third-year students to move from virtual room to virtual room during both of the two-hour sessions.

The increase in the number of participants allowed students the chance to talk with professionals about their career paths, daily job responsibilities, pharmacist positions, internships, rotations and residencies in traditional fields such as independent pharmacies, hospital, and nuclear pharmacy as well as often not thought-of fields such as military, managed care, and industry.

The College of Pharmacy is grateful for our alumni and friends to connect back in sharing their time, talents, and experiences with students as they focus more on potential career paths. The time spent mentoring students is invaluable to their professional development.

If you would like to get involved in helping students discover the many career paths available within pharmacy by exhibiting at our next Gamecock Pharmacy Career Expo, serving as a mentor, or speaking to student organizations, contact Kathy Keenan, (803) 777-1767.
