Tech Goes Home Chattanooga Expands To New Locations

  • Thursday, August 27, 2015

Tech Goes Home Chattanooga, the new digital equity initiative from the Enterprise Center, is expanding to 20 locations across Hamilton County this fall. The growth of the program has been made possible through support and funding from the city of Chattanooga and Hamilton County, as well as local foundations and businesses.

Graduates of the program are also spreading the word. Gwendolyn Moore, who took the course at Second Missionary Baptist Church last spring, is a huge fan. “There’s so many things you can learn from using a computer. I’m beginning to pay my bills online and doing research. I feel important.”

TGH CHA is partnering with schools, public libraries, churches, nonprofits and other organizations to provide 15 hours of free training to help participants acquire the skills to be able to access information and resources online. Upon completion of the course, participants have the option to purchase a new Chromebook for $50. The program also helps interested families secure low cost home internet service through one of several available options.

TGH CHA offers programs for preschoolers and school-aged children (who must be accompanied by a parent/caregiver), as well as adults. Those interested in enrolling can obtain more information and an application directly from the course location.

Tech Goes Home Chattanooga is also seeking volunteers to help work with participants during classes. For more info about volunteering or the TGH CHA program, please visit techgoeshomecha.org

Classes will be offered at these locations this fall:
