At last month’s SU Volunteer meet-up, we previewed some upcoming system updates that will support GREENPRINT. This email will provide more details on those updates and share what you can do as a service unit volunteer to prepare.
|
As a reminder, GREENPRINT is a Community-First, Mission Support Model which aims to re-create and re-imagine our Girl Scout Service Unit structure, boundaries, roles, and volunteer support to ensure youth in all communities can benefit from Girl Scout programs. As part of this new model, Girl Scouts River Valleys will intentionally uplift, train, support, and empower our volunteer leaders to use their voices and skills to maintain and create vibrant local communities of Girl Scouts in our region.
GREEENPRINT is designed to be more flexible and equitable and serve the many diverse needs of our council region, thereby supporting our purpose to boldly lead as an anti-racist organization. This new service model includes:
|
- Updated Community (formerly called Service Units) boundaries and Community names using school district boundaries and names as a guide.
- Grouping multiple Communities to create an Area level to provide additional support and programming opportunities.
- Refreshed Community and Area volunteer leader roles and benefits.
- Increased volunteer engagement, training, support, and tools.
|
Starting March 16, we will be making the internal system updates necessary to move service units to Communities and Areas, so Looker data may not be accurate during this time.
Updates will be completed by April 8 and then data in Looker will reflect Communities instead of service units.
|
- Volunteers that have renewed their membership and have added a Community or Area role will be able to see Community data in Looker starting April 8.
- Volunteers looking to access data for their service unit will not be to do so after April 8, as all data will reflect Communities. You will still have the option to filter for your service unit, but no members or data will display.
|
The “Current Year/Last Year” filter will change to “Current Year/Next Year” on April 1. The filters will show members in Communities for MY24 and MY25, respectively. The “Current Year” filter will not show service unit information.
|
On April 1, the GSRV volunteer website, a subsite of our main website, will officially sunset. All the information, training, and resources you need to be successful in your volunteer role(s) will live on the main GSRV website. If you have been using the volunteer subsite to access Looker or any Looker resources, those have been moved to the main website and can be accessed here.

-
Download your SU Full Roster and Troop Details reports from Looker by March 15 to ensure you have access to contact information through April 8 or through the summer if you need service unit information. Check out this link for instructions on downloading reports from Looker.
-
An email will be going out later today to all Troop Leaders and Mentors with a formal introduction to GREENPRINT and more information about the updates to the volunteer website. You may receive questions from them. Let us know if you need help supporting your Troop Leaders and Mentors with these updates.
-
Connect with your Volunteer Engagement Coordinator, if you haven’t already, to confirm your Community and/or Area role(s) for the next membership year.
- Renew your membership starting April 1.
-
Welcome newly added troops to your Community! Troops have been assigned to Communities based on their affiliation and location. Seeing new troops in your Community or not seeing troops that were previously in your service unit is normal and can be expected with our boundary changes. If troops have questions about their Community assignment, you can direct them to GSRV.
|
We’re here to support you and your service unit team through these exciting updates, so please reach out to us with any questions or concerns.
Always in your Corner,
The Volunteer Engagement Team
