The mission of the Division of Underground Storage Tanks is to protect human health and environment by preventing future petroleum underground storage tank releases and remediating existing petroleum underground storage tank contamination.

Notification and Fees

Tennessee Underground Storage Tank Rules require tank owners, buyers and sellers of tanks to notify the state at different times during the lifetime of a tank.  

UST Data and Reports

The Tennessee Division of Underground Storage Tanks maintains a database which contains information concerning the Division’s activities. Information is updated on a monthly basis. This information in this section of the website was last updated on March 28, 2024.

Tank and Piping Closure

When closing your tanks, compartments, or piping complete the "Application for Permanent Closure of UST System” and submit the application to the appropriate Field Office for approval 30 days prior to closing any portion of the UST system. 

Above Ground Tanks & Brownfields

Above ground storage tanks are not regulated by this Division.
