    About SXSW EDU 2022:
SXSW EDU is most well known for the SXSW EDU Conference & Festival, an annual event that fosters innovation and learning within the education industry. SXSW EDU believes that education has the power to inspire, elevate, and change the future. They bring together the learner, the practitioner, the entrepreneur, and the visionary to share their groundbreaking stories, tackle complex issues, and build reimagined paths forward. It is this unfettered, inspired, and passionate community that will collectively create a new tomorrow for learners everywhere and drive impact. The SXSW EDU Conference & Festival takes place each March in Austin, TX, as a four-day event offering compelling sessions, in-depth workshops, engaging learning experiences, mentorship, film screenings, future-focused competitions, an expo, networking opportunities, and so much more.

About the “Changing Girls' Mindsets on Financial Education” Panel:
Improving girls’ financial education and literacy in high school is critical to changing America's gender wage and wealth inequalities, the college debt crisis (which disproportionately affects women), and creating a more diverse financial industry. We must teach girls to be fiscally confident by familiarizing them with financial terms, exposing them to female role models, teaching them about investing (not just budgets), and opening their eyes to how finance affects their lives.

The Betty Cook Award (formerly the Isabel Benham Award) is given to a woman who has dedicated herself to helping empower and advance other women – no matter what industry they are in. Maura has spent 25 plus years in the financial services industry where she saw a real need to lift the veil on finance for younger generations of women. She launched Rock The Street, Wall Street in 2013, as a non-profit financial literacy program designed to spark the interest of high school girls into careers of finance. Since its inception, female financial professionals volunteer to serve as instructors and mentors, and run “hands-on” financial project workshops that are offered in 13 cities across the United States. Three new cities will be added this coming fall - San Diego, Kansas City and Newark, with more in the pipeline. Maura’s program has served over 1,750 high school students so far, 750 this past year alone, engaging and motivating the next generation of women for careers in finance.
