First-Year Learning Communities Program

The First-Year Learning Communities Program (FYLCP) at TAMU-CC was established in 1994 and enrolls all incoming first-year students in learning communities during their first two semesters of college. Over the past two decades, the FYLCP has been nationally recognized for its commitment to student success and integrative work.

First-Year Symposium

First-Year Symposium (FYS) is a two-day event held at the end of each fall semester that involves all 2,000+ first-year students. Students work individually or in small groups to present posters based on the work in their University Seminar class and/or learning community.

Each spring, first-year students have the opportunity to participate in our First-Year Islander (FYI) Conference to showcase their work and demonstrate their learning.
