Celebrating Buddha Shakyamuni's Birth, Enlightenment & Mahaparinirvana |
|
|
Please join us for the special practice of Saga Dawa Duchen, commemorating the birth, enlightenment and death of Buddha Shakyamuni. It is during the month of June that after three countless eons accumulating merit and wisdom, the Buddha achieved the ultimate benefit to himself and others: buddhahood - complete and full enlightenment. Ven. Khenpo Rinpoche reminds us that this day is one of the most sacred days of the year when karmic effects are naturally multiplied millions of times. Meditation practice and virtuous deeds are strongly encouraged and celebrated.
Practice will start at 7 pm June 11 at Yeshe Tsogyal Temple. Snack donations for sharing and flower offerings for shrine are appreciated. Please bring your Buddha Sadhana practice book along with A Treasury of Precious Prayers ...

Venerable Khenpo Tsewang Dongyal Rinpoche gave Teachings and an Empowerment on the Purification Diety, Vajrasattva, this past weekend at Tennessee's beautiful retreat center, Padma Gochen Ling, outside of Monterey. Rinpoche gave Teachings Friday night, June 6, more Teachings and the Empowerment on Saturday morning and then lead a Fire Puja ceremony in the afternoon. Rinpoche concluded his teachings Sunday morning, which was followed by a Refuge ceremony for new students wishing to step on the Path of Buddhism. The Tennessee Sangha offers up a deep sense of gratitude for our Teacher.

Calm Abiding Meditation Practice
Sundays, 9:30 am - 10:30 am CDT
This is a practice in calming the mind through shamatha meditation, or “peaceful abiding.” Venerable Khenpo Tsewang Dongyal Rinpoche says, “It is the most important thing we can do. Through peaceful abiding, we learn to rest fearlessly in our natural state.” These instructions guide us in the ancient technique to reveal the true nature of mind, wherein lies peace and happiness.

Heart Sutra Practice
Tuesdays, 7 - 8 pm (CDT), first Friday of each month, 11 am - Noon
“The extent of joy in your heart and the joy you bring to others will always be dependent upon the extent to which your mind is motivated by loving-kindness and compassion. This is the point of view shared by all human beings, not just dharma practitioners. It is the most important standard by which we all judge one another. It is the essential practice of dharma as taught by the Buddhas. Compassion and loving-kindness, based upon emptiness, that is the condensed heart practice of the Prajnaparamita.”
~ Khenpo Tsewang Dongyal Rinpoche
