Guru Rinpoche Day Practice with Tsok
Thur, June 5 at 7 PM at PBDC
Join us for the Ganachakra practice of Guru Padmasambhava. There will be a tsok (food offering).
The result of practicing on Guru Padmasambhava is two-fold: you attain what are known as the ordinary and supreme achievements, or siddhis. The ordinary achievement includes long life, good health, peace and happiness, as well as the ability to fulfill all of your bodhichitta aspirations. The supreme achievement is enlightenment. The ordinary and supreme achievements are considered the general result of practicing on Guru Padmasambhava.
Guru Rinpoche Day is celebrated on the 10th day of the lunar calendar each month. Shower of Blessings from Mipham Rinpoche will be the main practice.
Please bring your vegetarian offering early to be placed on the tsok table.
IMPORTANT! If Ven. Khenpo Tsewang Dongyal Rinpoche chooses to lead any listed practice remotely from Padma Samye Ling in upstate NY, the practice at PBDC will not take place! Instead, everyone can join from their own locations. Check the PBC Events page regularly and before special scheduled practices for updates and link to the live stream!

Saga Dawa Duchen and Full Moon Practice
Wed, June 11, 7 PM at PBDC
The full moon of Wednesday, June 11 is the auspicious day of Saga Dawa Duchen, honoring the Buddha’s enlightenment and mahaparinirvana.
Saga Dawa began May 28th this year and is the fourth month of the Tibetan lunar calendar. Throughout his life, Buddha Shakyamuni fulfilled many of his major activities during this month. Standing high among them are his birth in this world, his enlightenment, and his mahaparinirvana. It is during this month that, after three countless eons accumulating merit and wisdom, he achieved the ultimate benefit to himself and others: buddhahood - complete and full enlightenment.
Ven. Khenpo Tsewang Dongyal Rinpoche reminds us that this is a powerful and auspicious time for practice and meritorious activities. It is said that the karmic power of our activities multiply millions of times during this month. For Buddhists, this day is one of the most sacred days of the year when karmic effects are naturally multiplied millions of times. So meditation practice and virtuous deeds are strongly encouraged and celebrated!

You made glorious gifts of empowerments, pith instructions, and the three wisdoms to students everywhere.
Great Khenpo, Glorious Wisdom, you are the protector of beings, the Lord of Dharma, and the Supreme Lama, Certainly you are a son of the Buddha.”

Dakini Day Practice with Tsok
Sat, June 21 at 10 AM at PBDC |
Dakini Day, observed on the 25th day of the lunar month, is a day of celebration in Tibetan Buddhism that honors the enlightened feminine energy embodied by dakinis. Dakinis, called “sky dancers” in Tibetan, represent wisdom, compassion, and transformative power. These enlightened beings guide practitioners on their spiritual journey, helping them overcome ignorance and cultivate insight.
Please bring your vegetarian offering early to be placed on the tsok table.
NOTE: Regular Saturday Ngöndro practice will not be held on June 21.
“Dakinis are dancers of the illusory magical display. They enact the connections that awaken us to our nature. They are not ordinary individuals limited to certain capabilities and stuck with one identity. They are totally free in their movements, possess infinite skillful means and are accessible everywhere.
When we need them and call, the teachings say the dakinis are very active and respond immediately, coming forward to offer help, support, and enlightened energy. Both externally and inwardly, the dakinis are very dynamic and unbound in their movements.”
Venerable Khenpo Tsewang Rinpoche

Movie Night
Sat, June 28, at 4:30 PM with Potluck
Thank you for bringing a dish to share! |
In northern India’s sparsely populated and mountainous Ladakh region, an impoverished young boy is discovered to be the reincarnation of an esteemed, high-ranking Tibetan monk. Born displaced from his original monastery in Tibet, the boy is denied his rightful place. Amid growing doubts and mounting expectations in the community, the boy and his elderly godfather embark on a gruelling, improbable trek across India to return the young monk-to-be to his rightful monastery before it becomes too late.
Filmed over eight years, we witness an incredibly intimate bond of friendship between a future religious leader and his godfather, whose devotion and selflessness in care for the boy is truly touching. The film has a stirring and awe-inspiring air of serenity that befits its subject. Striking drone shots use the powerful magnitude of the natural landscape, particularly in the final moments in the snowy mountains. The film is an evocative exploration of culture, tradition and identity. Becoming Who I Was artfully captures the universal truths of unconditional love, family bonds and sacrifice.

Heart Sutra Practice
Saturdays, 10 AM at Pema Ling
“The extent of joy in your heart and the joy you bring to others will always be dependent upon the extent to which your mind is motivated by loving-kindness and compassion. This is the point of view shared by all human beings, not just dharma practitioners. It is the most important standard by which we all judge one another. It is the essential practice of dharma as taught by the Buddhas. Compassion and loving-kindness, based upon emptiness, that is the condensed heart practice of the Prajnaparamita.”
Ven. Khenpo Tsewang Dongyal Rinpoche
