Expert panel to discuss importance of partnerships in education research and policy

The Nashville Partnership for Educational Equity Research (PEER) and the Peabody Research Office will co-sponsor a panel discussion on research-practice partnerships Friday, April 1.

The panel will be held virtually via Zoom from 11 a.m. to noon CT. Advance registration is encouraged.

The discussion will focus on what matters in partnership research, how research-practice partnerships challenge common research assumptions and practices, and how this essential work can be supported.

Featured guests, all of whom have experience directing or working in research-practice partnerships, include:

  • Maury Nation, Bob Innes Professor of Human and Organizational Development;
  • Jason Grissom, Patricia and Rodes Hart Professor of Leadership, Policy and Organizations;
  • Nicole Joseph, associate professor of teaching and learning; and
  • Joseph Wehby, associate professor of special education and chair of the department.

The panel will be moderated by Marcy Singer-Gabella, professor of the practice of education and faculty director of PEER.

PEER, which launched in September 2021, is a research-practice partnership between Peabody College and Metro Nashville Public Schools focused on the district’s core commitment to identify and eliminate educational inequities.

The Peabody Research Office supports Peabody faculty, staff and students in identifying funding opportunities, developing and submitting proposals, and building collaborations with internal and external partners.
