2024-2025 is going to be a huge year for St. Luke’s Youth! We have so much ahead of us, and our leadership is dedicated to making this year the best year we’ve ever had!

STUDENT LEADERSHIP will play a big part in this that, and we have developed a structure mirroring that of our church’s ministry teams. Rather than applying for a specific role, you will apply to be on a team: CONNECT, WORSHIP (and Media), GROW, or SERVE.

 

::: IMPORTANT  NOTES :::
All Team Members will be encouraged to be an active part of the youth ministry programming and events and will attend at least one Youth Leadership meeting per quarter and scheduled team meetings. There will also be a Student Leaders Day-Retreat in the fall (Saturday, August 17)  that all team members are to make every effort to attend.

Parents: If you are interested in helping a specific team, we’ll be looking for Parent Volunteers. Please email Brandon at bsangster@st.lukes.org for more information or if you are interested.

Our amazing team of adult leaders plays a vital part in this as we strive for authentic relationships and connection with our youth, leading to real “Be 1 of 5” discipleship and giving them a sense of belonging.

St. Luke’s Youth Programming   (August-May)

Sundays (6 – 8 p.m.) our High School Youth are welcome to join us in The Youth Center for Sunday Night HIGHPOINT (Youth Ministry Programming for High Schoolers).

HIGHPOINT will be all about authentic connection, thought-provoking messages, and deep discussion (split by Grade Groups and led by our team of Adult Leaders).

Please note: While High School programming is on Sunday nights, High School students wishing to attend on Wednesdays will have the opportunity to help lead younger children over in The Treehouse & youth in their small groups and rotations. Check-In at 6:00PM in The Youth Center for MIDPOINT which will be a time for connection, high-energy games, a message, and discussion (split by Grade Groups and led by our team of Adult Leaders).

WHERE TO FIND YOUTH MINISTRIES

The Youth Center is located on the backside of campus, across from the Sanctuary and in front of building A.

 

STUDENT LEADERSHIP

We are a church that believes in the ACCEPTANCE of ALL! We welcome you with radical HOSPITALITY into our Christ-Centered COMMUNITY, so that together we can grow in DISCIPLESHIP and SERVE others. St. Luke’s Youth Ministries is a safe, inclusive, Christ-centered brave space for middle and high school students where ALL ARE WELCOME, and where You BELONG to Beloved Community, You GROW to Awaken Disciples, and You SERVE to Reveal The Kingdom.

Student leadership will now play a big part in this mission, and we have developed a structure that mirrors that of our church ministry teams. Rather than applying for a specific role, you will apply to be on a team: CONNECTWORSHIP, GROW, or SERVE.

Our goal is to provide a cohesive opportunity in leadership development with a strong partnership between adult leaders and student leaders. This team-oriented format is sure to provide growth of both our students and our youth ministries in a positive way.

The WORSHIP & Media Team
This team will consist of our Youth Praise Team and Youth Tech Team. You can also be a part of this team, but by audition/training and interview only. Contact Matt Estep at mestep@st.lukes.org for Youth Praise Team info, and Brandon Sangster at bsangster@st.lukes.org for Youth Tech Team info.
Some on our Youth Tech Team will also serve as our Youth Media Team, tasked with gathering photo and video media for weekly announcements, social media posts, etc.

CONNECT Team   “YOU BELONG” to Beloved Community
Connect and cultivate a sense of authentic belonging by navigating and celebrating life, and building community through radical hospitality on Sunday and Wednesday nights, with social events, etc.

  • The Connect Team’s main goal is to create (and maintain) a culture of community and inclusion within our ministry, living out our statement “You Belong”.
  • This team will work with the Youth Ministry Director, the St. Luke’s Director of Connect Ministries, and Adult Leaders to create opportunities for fellowship.
  • Tasks will include:
    • Greeters for Sunday and Wednesday Nights
    • Making sure new students are welcomed, checked-in, introduced to the Youth Ministry Director and at least 1 adult leader, and plugged in with others in their grade level.
    • Helping others feel connected during Large and Small Group Discipleship times.
    • Helping to plan and execute big quarterly CONNECT (fellowship/social/outreach) Events
    • Assisting in developing grade level hangouts
    • Helping to invite people to youth

GROW Team   “YOU GROW” to Awaken Disciples
Growing in faith through small groups, worship, and acts of piety.

  • The Grow Team’s main goal is leading among peers in discipleship, mentoring, and assisting in worship.
  • This team will work with the Youth Ministry Director and Associate Director.
  • This team will also work in tandem with our Worship Team (our Youth Praise Team and Youth Tech Team)
  • Tasks will include:
    • Helping develop programming for St. Luke’s Youth Large and Small Group Discipleship times
    • Reading Scripture and/or Liturgy in Sunday Morning Worship when scheduled
    • Planning and executing a Student Lead Worship Series (under coaching and supervision of Brandon)
    • Some of our High School members of this team will also serve as Jr. Leaders and assist with St. Luke’s Kids in The Treehouse, or with our Middle School Youth at MIDPOINT.

SERVE Team   “YOU SERVE” to Reveal the Kingdom
Serving in monthly missions and outreach to the community, and reaching beyond through awareness, action, and advocacy.

  • The Serve Team’s main goal is to engage our youth in service and outreach.
  • This team will work with the Youth Ministry Director, St. Luke’s Director of Mission Engagement, and Adult Leaders on creating service opportunities for youth within our Central Florida community and beyond.
  • Tasks will include:
    • Planning and helping to facilitate frequent service events, at least 3 per semester.
    • Assisting with the development and planning of our year-round mission opportunities and initiatives
    • Helping with Church-wide service events

Are you interested in being a TEAM CAPTAIN?
Each team – Connect, Serve, Grow – will have 4 Team Captains (2 Middle School and 2 High School). These will be point persons who work with their team to create ideas for the development of youth ministry programming and events and will serve as more of a consistent liaison between their team and the Youth Ministry Director and Associate Director. Team Captains will be selected from those who apply and interview. The Worship Team Captains will be our Worship (Praise Team) Leader(s) and Stage Manager(s).
