Premiere: The Contribution Release “Back This Way” as Rex Foundation Fundraiser

February 15, 2017

The Contribution is a musical project spearheaded by Railroad Earth’s Tim Carbone, which also features Keith Moseley (String Cheese Incident), New Monsoon’s Phil Ferlino and Jeff Miller, Duane Trucks (Widespread Panic, Hard Working Americans) and Sheryl Renee (The Black Swan Singers). Over the next seven months the group will release songs from their forthcoming album, Wilderness And Space, with the full proceeds from each single directed to a different non-profit. The full ten-song album, which also features Matt Butler (Everyone Orchestra), will be released on vinyl this fall.

Today we premiere the first song from the record “Back This Way,” which will be available online on February 17, 2017 with all proceeds donated to Rex Foundation. Carbone tells Relix, “The Contribution is very excited to be partnering with the Rex Foundation on its first single release. The drummer on this track, Matt Butler, is on the Board of Directors and some the members of the band have performed for the Rex’s benefit. The Rex Foundation’s commitment to grassroots action, it’s dedication to helping those who are helping others and making a difference, doing so in an intelligent and open minded way, makes them the perfect non-profit organization to kick off this unique project.”

As for the song, Carbone adds, “The story that is ‘Back This Way’ illustrates the struggle couples have when one of them (in this case a man) has to travel for a living. It’s so easy to take love for granted and this song tells the story of how a couple comes to grips with the problems caused by long distance love. Love is a fire that needs to be stoked and stirred or it might go out.”
