A Note from Pastor Melissa-January 13, 2022

Happy Thursday, St. Lukers, and Happy New Year! I hope you are kicking off the year with us as we Learn, Live, Love and Lead our lives together in ministry. This week, we began many of our Learn opportunities, including our Sunday night Bible Study, our “Your Week with St. Luke’s” Podcast, and a few Wednesday night classes. There are also new Life Together groups forming so you can be sure to Live your faith with others. You can always jump in with any of these opportunities, so it’s not too late to start the year off strong!

It is a week of new beginnings, and in that same vein, we have an announcement that one of our staff will be moving on to a new beginning as well.

It is with great sadness and yet great appreciation for her ministry that we let you know that our Director of Choral Music Amy Martin Cole’s time with us on staff at St. Luke’s is coming to a close.

Amy is feeling called into the next phase of her life and ministry, and we are so grateful for the work she has done throughout her time with us to care for the choir and grow them into such an excellent group of worship leaders. Especially during the pandemic, Amy has cared for this dedicated group and kept them engaged not only with worship and music, but with one another in ways that I have not seen happening anywhere close to this level with other churches.

Amy plans to be with us on staff through Sunday, March 6 – but she, and her husband, John aren’t going anywhere as St. Lukers — they’ll still be part of our life as a congregation. That also means we’ll have a chance to celebrate Amy’s ministry in the coming weeks as well.

Scooter, Jenn, our SPRC and I are all working to create the next steps for finding new leadership to partner with John Mason in leading our traditional music ministry, so we invite you not only to pray for Amy as she takes her next steps, but to go ahead and begin praying for the person God is already preparing for us in this time.

If you have any questions about our next steps in worship ministries, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me.

In the meantime, please be in prayer for Amy as she explores where God is calling her to next and how she can continue to offer her gifts in new ways and spaces.

This also means it’s a great Sunday to be sure you join us in worship, either in person or online, as we continue to be led for just a few more weeks by Amy in traditional worship – you can join us for either traditional or contemporary worship in person at 9:15 in the Sanctuary and Founder’s Hall, or join us online for contemporary worship at 9:15 and traditional worship at 11:00 on Facebook Live.

See you Sunday as we wrap up our week together Loving God and joining in praise with one another!
