It’s been a violent 24 hours across the Puget Sound.

Three people have died and five more have been injured in four separate shootings.

One neighborhood is dealing with a fatal shooting for the second time in less than two months.

“It’s really frustrating to not feel safe in your own front yard and see these problems continue,” said a neighbor who lives directly across from the Everspring Inn where a man was shot and killed in the motel lobby Tuesday morning.

Members of North 82nd Street Neighborhood Alliance – a community group of neighbors who live around the Everspring – gathered Tuesday afternoon in frustration that again someone was killed at the troubled motel.

“What we should do is defund the crime and close the motel,” said Mark Leonard who lives on North 82nd Street.

Neighbors says their community is at risk because of crime around the Inn.

“We are seeing a lot of neighbors with children leaving and we are considering that now too,” said Robert Young who lives in North 82nd Street.

Frustrated with no help from the city, the group gathered data from 2018 to 2019 from the Seattle Police Department that showed more than 300 incidents that had been reported at the Everspring – many felony crimes like homicide, rape and assault.

KOMO News took the community concerns to the Mayor Jenny Durkan’s office but they declined to comment.

Neighbors say Seattle Police activity patrol their neighborhood – but they want the city to do more to stop crime at the motel.

According to the Seattle Police Crime Dashboard there has been increasing crime around a three mile radius of the motel.

Since the start of 2019 there has been:

  • 6 homicides
  • 28 rapes
  • 72 robberies
  • 135 aggravated assaults

Neighbors said enough is enough and they want the Inn shutdown.

“It’s incredibly frustrating that our attempts to work with our representatives in government seem to be falling on deaf ears and we don’t seem to see a response,” said Young.

The group has been reaching our the mayor and city council for months – with no response.

Neighbors say they can’t take much and they need the city to act.

“It’s getting worse, people are dying, something needs to be done, it needs to be shut down because it’s attracting so much crime to the neighborhood,” said Young. “It’s just too much, no community should have to deal with this.”

Gun violence ripped across the Puget Sound area Monday night and Tuesday morning as various police departments are investigating four separate shootings that so far have left three dead and five others wounded.

The first shooting left at least two victims in Seattle's Central District Monday. Gunfire erupted at a gas station on 23rd Avenue and East Cherry Street around 10:15 p.m., according to Seattle Police. Officers and medics arrived to find two people wounded at the scene. One was later pronounced dead while the other was rushed to Harborview Medical Center but their condition was not given.

A short time later, a third person wounded by gunfire was dropped off at Harborview by car. Detectives are still trying to confirm whether this victim was from the same shooting scene or if there was yet another shooting.

Detective are still looking into what led up to the shooting. None of the suspected shooter(s) are in custody.

Down in Skyway, a 24-year-old man was killed when he was shot Monday night. That shooting happened in the 12000 block of 71st Ave. South, according to the King County Sheriff's Office.

The suspected shooter was found at the scene with a gunshot wound to his hand and was taken to Harborview for treatment. He will then be booked in the King County Jail once medically cleared.

Another deadly shooting at Aurora Ave. Motel in N. Seattle

In North Seattle, a man was shot at a motel Tuesday morning where another deadly shooting had taken place just two months ago.

Officers were called to the Everspring Motel in the 8200 block of Aurora Ave. North just after 4 a.m. for a report of gunfire. They arrived to find a wounded person dead at the scene.

The shooter remains on the loose. No other details about that shooting are available yet.

On May 26, a woman was killed and a man was critically wounded in the parking lot outside the motel.

2 teens wounded in drive-by shooting in S. Everett

Finally in Everett, two teens were injured in a drive-by shooting in the south side of town.

The victims were walking along the 400 block of Casino Road just after midnight Tuesday morning when a dark grey or silver car drove by and fired multiple shots, according to Aaron Snell with Everett Police.

Both teens suffered leg wounds and were taken to a local hospital for treatment. One was listed in serious condition but both were expected to survive, Snell said.
