Help Yarlung Records support Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra

Posted on

Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra is dear to our hearts at Yarlung Records.  The orchestra made the difficult decision early in the Covid-19 crisis to pay musicians for our cancelled concerts this season.  These musicians are here for us, and have given us joy and transcendence for over 50 years.  I’m very glad LACO decided to support the people who make this musical magic happen.  Now, in return, LACO needs our help.

Please consider a $100 or greater donation to the orchestra.[1]  As a token of thanks, Yarlung Records will give you a copy of Lorraine on CD, an album we released a few years ago celebrating Lorraine Hunt Lieberson and Margaret Batjer and every member of the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra.  Lorraine sings the cantata Mein Herze Schwimmt im Blut by J. S. Bach and concertmaster Margaret Batjer leads the Orchestra in Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto no. 4.  Jeffrey Kahane conducts the cantata, and Allan Vogel, on oboe, sings glorious duets with Lorraine.

We want to raise $100,000 for the Orchestra.  I am prepared to give donors 1,000 copies of Lorraine as a personal thank you from Yarlung Records.

Reminiscing with me about rehearsing and performing with Lorraine, Allan Vogel remembered that Lorraine made sure everyone in the orchestra understood the text in the cantata.  “We were all very aware that although Lorraine was singing so beautifully, she was facing a mortal illness.  She needed us to understand that the extreme expressiveness in her singing was what the cantata required, not because she had become emotionally unhinged. The Cantata ends with ‘How Joyful is my Heart’ which Bach and Lorraine delivered with equal conviction.  She sang, as always, with exceptional artistry and beauty. Making music with Lorraine was a truly memorable experience for all of us.  I miss her very much.”

Please join me in supporting LACO in this time of need.  I look forward to giving you this album as a token of my personal appreciation for your generosity.
