Since 1992, the WIES Catalina Conservation Divers (formerly the Catalina Conservancy Divers) have been collecting underwater biological and environmental data from coastal ocean sites around Catalina Island, California. In cooperation with the USC Wrigley Institute for Environmental Studies, the CCD team conducts quarterly surveys of marine species and benthic water temperatures.
This community science effort has built a valuable time-series dataset that provides insight into environmental and biological patterns along Catalina's coastline.
