Mhd Wael Alrifai, MD, MS is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics in the Division of Neonatology, and an Assistant Professor of Biomedical Informatics at the Vanderbilt University Medical Center. He completed Neonatology Fellowship at the Vanderbilt University Medical Center, he subsequently obtained a Master of Science in Applied Clinical Informatics. Dr. Alrifai's research is focused on using health information technology to improve care in neonatal and pediatric populations with a focus on quality, safety, and reduction of cost. In his most recent effort, he developed and evaluated novel clinical decision support systems to improve the safety and efficacy of care in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Dr. Alrifai is board certified in general pediatrics, neonatal perinatal medicine, and clinical informatics.
