The Respondus integration for NYU Brightspace includes access to Respondus LockDown Browser and Monitor for use on quizzes created in NYU Brightspace. LockDown Browser provides assessment security by locking the machine of students while taking the NYU Brightspace quiz. Students will only have access to the quiz and any links, files, or media included in the quiz. Monitor may be layered on top of LockDown Browser. Monitor allows instructors to select automated proctoring, which will activate the webcam and create a recording of the student during the quiz session, or live remote proctoring, which allows the instructor to proctor the quiz session via NYU Zoom.
Respondus LockDown Browser and Monitor requires students to install the Respondus browser on a Mac, Windows, iPad, or Chromebook.
Faculty can request access to Respondus by filling out the NYU Brightspace Pilots and Integrations Request Form. Ensure to include the NYU Brightspace course site URL or a spreadsheet if requesting for multiple course sites.
The Respondus LockDown Browser Dashboard can be accessed in the Quizzes Tool of NYU Brightspace course sites for which Respondus has been provisioned. The Respondus LockDown Browser Dashboard allows instructors to add Respondus LockDown Browser and Monitor to existing quizzes in the NYU Brightspace course site.
It is highly recommended to include information about the use of Respondus LockDown Browser in the course syllabus. Below is sample language that can be used. Include the statement in the course syllabus, or send to students when Respondus LockDown Browser and/or Monitor is added to the course.

The Student Quick Start Guide is available at https://web.respondus.com/student-help/rldb-quick-start-guide-d2l-student/
Finally, when taking an online exam, follow these guidelines:
----
Prior to using LockDown Browser or Monitor for a graded quiz, create a practice session to ensure the correct configuration and student experience. Creating a practice exam will allow instructors to gather feedback from students about any issues or concerns they have about taking a quiz with LockDown Broswer and Monitor and can ensure that students can successfully complete a real exam session.
Prior to adding Respondus LockDown Browser to an NYU Brightspace Quiz, review the LockDown Browser Resources available in the LockDown Browser Dashboard. Training videos are provided as well as support documentation to help prepare for hosting an NYU Brightspace quiz using Respondus LockDown Browser.
Note that adding LockDown Browser to a quiz in NYU Brightspace will append the name of the quiz to include "Requires Respondus LockDown Browser". This is to inform the students of the quiz requirements. Do not change the name of the quiz after it has been renamed by the tool, as this can break the connection with LockDown Browser.
The LockDown Browser requirement has been added to the selected quiz in NYU Brightspace. Students will be notified that LockDown Browser is required for the quiz and that they must use it to complete the quiz. A link will be provided to the students to download and install Respondus LockDown Browser if it is not already installed on their machine.
Monitor is not required in order to use LockDown Browser. However, LockDown Browser is required in order to use Monitor for automated proctoring or live Zoom monitoring for a quiz in NYU Brightspace. Click the article below for instructions on adding Monitor to your NYU Brightspace quiz.
