UPDATE 7/28/21 @ 9:42 a.m.

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) - Charleston Police say a six-year-old boy accidentally shot himself in the hand.

It happened at a home in the 2200 block of Washington Street East early Wednesday morning.

There is no word on if the child’s guardian was at home when the shooting happened.

The case will be turned over to the Kanawha County Prosecutor’s Office.

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) - A child was shot early Wednesday morning on the east side of Charleston.

According to Metro 911, shots were fired along Washington Street East just after 1 Wednesday morning.

The Charleston Police Department is investigating the incident.
