Fast Start Propels Stockton to 17-6 Win over Kean

Union, N.J. – Stockton University (3-1, 3-0 CSAC) scored three goals in the first five minutes and led the rest of the way for a 17-6 victory over Kean University (4-1, 2-1 CSAC). Senior Luc Swedlund dished an assist in the second quarter for his 200th career point.

Swedlund became the sixth Stockton player in program history to reach the 200-point mark. He later netted two goals in the second half to go with his milestone assist.

Joey Tiernan (Voorhees/Eastern) continued his torrid scoring pace with six goals and four assists for 10 points, all of which were game highs. Dante Poli (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks South) contributed three goals and one assist. Eric D'Arminio (Roxbury/Roxbury) also tallied four points on a goal and three helpers.

Tiernan sandwiched two goals around one by Erik Anderson (Monroe Twp./Monroe Twp.) for a quick 3-0 lead in the first five minutes. D'Arminio and Poli also scored in the first quarter to help Stockton build a 5-2 advantage.

Leading 8-5 late in the second quarter, the Ospreys broke the game open with three markers in 1:20. Anderson started the run followed by Tiernan. Swedlund then notched point number 200 with an assist on a goal by Poli that put the Ospreys in front 11-5 heading into halftime.

Poli and Peter Burke (Shamong/Seneca) netted the only counters of the third quarter to complete a run of five straight by Stockton for a commanding 13-5 lead heading into the fourth period. After Kean got one back, Tiernan paced a four-goal burst by assisting on two markers from Swedlund and one by Burke before scoring one himself to seal the 17-6 triumph.

Stockton goalkeeper Eric Lindskog (Montville/Montville) backstopped the Ospreys to victory with a career-high 18 saves. Logan Holleritter (Oak Ridge/Jefferson Twp.) paced the defense with a team-high three caused turnovers plus three ground balls.

Connor Batjer topped Kean with two goals and one assist. Cougars' goalie Thomas Francy finished with 16 saves in the game.
