Immaculata, PA – Stockton University (18-14, 5-7 NJAC) swept a non-conference doubleheader over Immaculata (6-22) by scores of 9-0 and 10-1 on Thursday afternoon.
Lilly James (Roseland/West Essex) and
Michaela Luyber (Bordentown/Bordentown) collected five hits each, with James garnering her 100th career base hit in the first game.
Stockton jumped out early in the first tilt, scoring three times for a quick 3-0 advantage. James led off with a single and advanced to third base on a sacrifice bunt. Rookie
Charli Czaczkowski (Jackson/Jackson Memorial) scored James to make it 1-0. Luyber and
Megan Dignam (Philadelphia, PA /Nazareth Academy) singled to load the bases, setting up
Nerina Tramp (Blackwood/Highland) who plated two runs for the three-run lead.
Tramp picked up another RBI in the third to make it 4-0. In the top of the fourth, the Ospreys struck again.
Gabrielle Barranger (Sicklerville/Haddonfield) singled, and James doubled, giving her the 100th hit milestone.
Gracie Meyer (Pittsgrove/A.P. Schalick) scored Barranger, then Czaczkowski drove in James for the 6-0 lead.
Stockton tacked on three more runs in support of Tramp, who shut down the Might Macs on just six hits. The freshman earned her fourth win of the season and second shutout of the year, walking one and fanning eight batters in the 9-0 win. She also rapped three hits and had four RBI at the plate.
Game two was more of the same as Stockton prevailed 10-1 with a 17-hit attack. A five-run second inning was all
Samantha McErlane (Mount Ephraim/Audubon) needed in the circle.
Seven different Ospreys had two hits or more in the rout, with Luyber leading the way with three safeties and Czaczkowski knocking in three more runs for a total of five RBI on the day.
McErlane won her sixth game of the season, scattering five hits, while allowing just one unearned runs and striking out three.
Stockton will have a day off before hosting William Paterson at home for a Saturday doubleheader. First pitch is scheduled for 1 pm.
