Dear Colleagues,
We are sharing the revised SUNY General Education Framework, accompanied by the draft Implementation Guidance for SUNY General Education with you.
Campuses provided feedback on the SUNY General Education Framework in March 2021, following SUNY Provost-in-Charge Shadi Shahedipour-Sandvik’s call for comments. Provost Shahedipour-Sandvik informed campuses that the call elicited over 400 pages of comments, including those from SUNY New Patz, addressing a wide variety of questions and concerns and that the framework was revised to address concerns.
While the SUNY General Education Framework (final draft) will be presented to the Board of Trustees later this month, implementation is slated for fall 2023.
We are now being asked to comment on the proposed Implementation Guidance by Oct. 22, 2021 (the deadline has been extended by two weeks). The GE Board will host an open forum on Wednesday, Sept. 22, from 3:30 – 5:00 p.m. via WebEx (use meeting link below) to discuss the draft Implementation Guidance and to gather comments.

You may also email feedback on the draft Implementation Guidance to Associate Provost for Strategic Planning and Assessment, Laurel M. Garrick Duhaney (duhaneyl@newpaltz.edu) by Friday, Oct. 15, 2021. She will summarize and submit the comments to Interim Provost Barbara G. Lyman, who will email our institutional response to the SUNY Provost by Oct. 22, 2021.
