No. 3 in the Nation and Headed to the College Football Playoff

The TCU Horned Frogs will make their first College Football Playoff appearance when the team faces Michigan in the Vrbo Fiesta Bowl on Dec. 31. TCU, with an undefeated regular season, was ranked third in the nation by the playoff selection committee.

TCU School of Medicine Announces New Home in Fort Worth Medical District

The medical innovation district in Fort Worth is getting a new neighbor – Texas Christian University is expanding its footprint by announcing a new medical campus for the TCU School of Medicine, one of the newest and most innovative medical schools in the country. The story about the design of the campus was also one of the site’s most-read.

TCU Quarterback Named Heisman Trophy Finalist

TCU quarterback Max Duggan was named one of four finalists for the Heisman Trophy, the most prestigious award in college football. Duggan has led the Horned Frogs to a 12-1 record, including the Big 12's first 9-0 conference mark since 2016, No. 3 ranking and their first College Football Playoff appearance.

White Coats, Purple Pride: Medical School is now TCU School of Medicine

After a successful collaboration that resulted in the creation of one of the nation’s newest allopathic (MD) medical schools, TCU announced today that the school is now the TCU School of Medicine. The former TCU and UNTHSC School of Medicine will advance to its next chapter by transitioning to become a college solely within its degree-granting institution, Texas Christian University.  

TCU Makes Princeton Review Top 10 in 11 Categories

TCU is once again being recognized as a top-tier institution committed to delivering an outstanding college experience to students. The Princeton Review’s 2023 list of the best 388 colleges ranked TCU No. 3 on its list of both Best-Run Colleges and Best Quality of Life. TCU again was recognized for Best College Dorms, coming in at No. 2. The rankings were among more than 20 designations, 11 of them in the top 10.

Two Horned Frogs Graduate with Rare Triple Degrees

Two names began to sound familiar to those cheering on newly minted TCU graduates at the commencement ceremonies May 7: Brent Hewitt and Sarah Jennings are both earning triple degrees — three bachelor’s degrees each. Graduating with upper-division honors, Hewitt will receive a BS in engineering with a mechanical emphasis, a BS in economics and a BA in mathematics. Graduating with both lower-division and upper-division honors, Jennings will receive a BS in dietetics, a BA in studio art and a BA in modern language studies — French. 

Horned Frogs Showed Hustle, Heart in NCAA’s Big Dance

After record-setting attendance and signature wins against top Big 12 opponents at home, the Horned Frog basketball team found themselves seeded No. 9 and in the famous March Madness tournament. And at the Big Dance, the Frog family and the rest of the nation witnessed unforgettable displays of hustle and heart.

TCU Prepares to Celebrate Opening of Van Cliburn Concert Hall at TCU

Texas Christian University’s School of Music anticipated the official opening of its state-of-the-art Van Cliburn Concert Hall at TCU in April. The concert hall is part of the new $53 million TCU Music Center that provides more than 7,500 square feet of rehearsal space and learning resources for TCU’s band, orchestra and percussion programs and will further open TCU’s doors to fine arts audiences.

TCU Named a Top 100 University by U.S News & World Report for 13th Year in a Row

U.S. News & World Report ranked Texas Christian University a top 100 national university for the 13th consecutive year, coming in at No. 89 for 2022’s Best National Universities. TCU’s engineering, business and nursing programs are each ranked in the top 100, as did the university as a Best College for Veterans.

New Residence Halls Underway

TCU is preparing to begin construction on two new residence halls, extending the residence life experience to the east side of campus. Following an earlier approval from the TCU Board of Trustees, the project will further enhance campus culture and the on-campus experience.
The two residence halls on the east side of campus will include a dining facility and outdoor common space for student social and study group activities and allow for additional housing options for first-year students.

Nationwide Murals Celebrate TCU Success Stories in Honor of 150th

As part of the lead-up to TCU’s 150th anniversary in 2023, the university is highlighting notable Horned Frog leaders who found their inspiration at TCU with a series of murals, hand-painted in cities across America. The larger-than-life artistic portraits will appear in select U.S. cities to recognize outstanding individuals who represent the power of TCU’s alumni leading on in extraordinary ways in their chosen fields. The first mural in the series was unveiled in New York City on Oct. 3 and spotlights alumnus John Devereaux ’12, currently touring with Hamilton.

TCU Graduates First Cohort of STEM Scholars

As the TCU class of 2022 geared up for its spring commencement ceremony, the original cohort of STEM Scholars prepared to cross the stage. The STEM Scholar program is one of TCU’s most ambitious, providing full four-year scholarships, academic support and leadership development. It’s highly competitive and offered to the most accomplished, talented, underrepresented students in North Central Texas who plan to pursue a degree in science, technology, engineering or math.

TCU Honors James Cash ’69 with Statue, Honorary Doctorate
Nov. 11, 2022
James Cash ’69, a leader in sports, community and education, cemented his place in TCU history. On the same day the university dedicated his statue in front of the Ed and Rae Schollmaier Arena, Chancellor Victor J. Boschini, Jr. presented him with an Honorary Doctor of Science, honoris causa. Cash was the first Black student-athlete at TCU, was the first Black basketball player in the Southwest Conference, and has continued his leadership throughout his life.

TCU leaders rang the iconic bell at the New York Stock Exchange as Horned Frogs gathered in the nation’s epicenter of media, business and arts and entertainment. At the NYSE, Chancellor Victor J. Boschini, Jr. joined Daniel Pullin, John V. Roach Dean of the Neeley School of Business, and other TCU alumni, students and leaders to celebrate 150 years of leadership and Neeley Horned Frogs leading in business.

Horned Frogs Rally Ahead of Big 12 Championship Game

The TCU football team headed to the Big 12 Championship game Dec. 3 undefeated. It has been an incredible season on the field, but it has been equally notable off the field. Amon G. Carter Stadium reached a record student attendance with 6,512 – more than half the student body – in attendance for a single game, and TCU was featured five times on a nationally televised pregame show. The story announcing the conference championship berth was also one of the year’s most popular.

TCU Names Medical School to Honor the Late Anne Burnett Marion
July 22, 2022
The TCU School of Medicine is now the Anne Burnett Marion School of Medicine in honor of the late Anne Burnett Marion’s lifetime of friendship and support and her extraordinary generosity to the TCU School of Medicine. The estate of the late Anne Burnett Marion and The Burnett Foundation, a charitable foundation based in Fort Worth, have made a second $25 million gift to The Anne W. Marion Endowment in support of the TCU School of Medicine operations in perpetuity.

TCU to Host National Fox Pre-Game Show
Nov. 1, 2022
For the first time ever, Fox’s Big Noon Kickoff broadcast live from TCU. The national show will take place outside Amon G. Carter Stadium on the Kelly Center lawn Nov. 5 before No. 7 TCU hosted Texas Tech.

TCU’s Fall Enrollment Rises 2.8%

Texas Christian University’s enrollment for Fall 2022 increased 2.8% to 12,273. This includes a 2.9% increase in undergraduate students to 10,523 and a 2% increase in graduate enrollment to 1,750. All numbers are in comparison to Fall 2021.

TCU Names Chief Inclusion Officer

Jonathan Benjamin-Alvarado, Ph.D., was named TCU’s senior advisor to the chancellor and chief inclusion officer and will begin his duties June 1. He will play a critical role working directly for the chancellor and closely with the provost, cabinet and other faculty and staff employees to develop a comprehensive vision for ensuring inclusive excellence throughout the university.

TCU Announces Inaugural Teresa Ann Carter King Dean of College of Fine Arts

Following a national search, Amy Hardison Tully, DMA, was named Teresa Ann Carter King Dean of the College of Fine Arts. Tully is the inaugural holder of the endowed deanship, named in honor of Teresa King, a lifelong supporter of the arts.

Facilities Keeps Campus Grounds Beautiful… Through Drought and Storm

This summer’s searing heat and record temperatures left yards and flower beds across North Texas struggling to survive. But at TCU, the landscaping and grounds team kept the campus looking green and healthy, thanks to skillful soil and irrigation management – and a lot of planning.

TCU Celebrates Winners of Fall 2022 Awards

The fall semester marked the recognition of several prestigious university awards, including the Chancellor’s Award for Distinguished Achievement, Ferrari Award, Chancellor’s Staff Award, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Award, Maryrose Short Award and Wassenich Award. We celebrate and congratulate these winners!
