About this Guide

This resource guide is compiled by TDSB's Professional Library for educators. This guide is a work in progress, in collaboration with TDSB Educators, please use the ‘Recommend a Resource’ button to let us know what’s missing, or if you wish to provide feedback on a listed title. Internal links may require TDSB authentication.

The resources may be useful for lesson planning, research, or general learning. This guide is intended to serve as a general starting place for accessing existing resources and thus content may not be available for all areas.

When selecting and planning for the use of resources for instruction, educators are responsible for pre-reading/previewing the text/media and using their professional judgement to determine the suitability of the resource for the specific students they are supporting (see TDSB PR 531). This includes consideration of Promising Practices in Indigenous Education, equitable and culturally responsive texts, student development/age, Canadian content, currency/quality of information and usage within licence terms/copyright/fair dealing.

Educators need to prepare for and plan for critical conversations, each time they are selecting resources for use in learning. This includes: establishing the context for use of the resource, pre-reading the resource, personal learning and reflection related to the topic, engaging in conversation and reflection with students before, during and after the use of the resource, and utilizing trauma informed and culturally responsive and relevant approaches to the learning activity and environment.
