Gwynedd Valley, Pa. – Stockton University (18-10) extended its winning streak to six with a pair of shutouts over Gwynedd Mercy (10-17) by scores of 12-0 in five innings and 5-0. The Ospreys totaled 23 hits in the doubleheader.
Mia Barone (Langhorne, Pa./Neshaminy) and
Stevie Unger (Tower City, Pa./Williams Valley) combined on a no-hitter in game one. Barone struck out a career-high six batters in three innings pitched for the win. Unger tossed the last two innings.
Charli Czaczkowski (Jackson/Jackson Memorial),
Emily Spencer (Southampton/Seneca) and
Alexa Panagopoylos (Atco/Hammonton) tallied three hits apiece. Spencer smacked a double and triple to go with two runs and two RBI.
Czaczkowski hit a triple, scored three runs and produced one RBI while Panagopoylos contributed three RBI and two runs.
Caitlin Cetrulo (Caldwell/James Caldwell) notched two hits and three RBI in the 12-0 rout. Stockton scored four times each in the first, fourth and fifth innings.
In the second game, Spencer went 2-4 with a run and an RBI while Cetrulo was 2-2 with a walk and a run. Panagopoylos slugged her team-leading sixth homer of the season, a three-run blast that made it 4-0 in the third inning. Spencer stroked an RBI single in the fourth stanza for the last run of the 5-0 win.
Starting pitcher
Lexi Liquori (Union/Union) established a career high with six strikeouts and allowed just one hit and one walk in four scoreless innings for the win.
Jenna Crampton (High Bridge/Voorhees) hurled two innings followed by Unger in the seventh frame to seal the combined shutout.
Stockton will host No. 18 ranked Ramapo College, the first-place team in the NJAC (11-1), on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
