Expression of Interest

In alignment with the the Student Interest Program Policy (P100), each applicant must submit an Expression of Interest as part of their Central Student Interest Program application:

6.3.5 Each type of TDSB Centralized programs/schools will have standard interest-based admissions processes established by the Board, which include a demonstration of active interest or passion, where applicable. Students demonstrating interest or passion, will be eligible for the random selection process when demand exceeds available space.

The Expression of Interest must make reference to or be directly connected to the Central Student Interest Program and the type of program(s) to which you have applied, and must be written/created by the STUDENT applicant. Please do not send Expressions of Interest to the requested school(s).

Please see possible options and samples below for the Expression of Interest:

  • Written submissions (examples: blog, essay, opinion piece, poem, short story, script, etc.) that refer to the program(s) OR
  • Text-based submissions (examples: PowerPoint, Canva, Mindmap, etc.) OR
  • Audio or video submissions containing student performance that is connected to the program(s) along with an Expression of Interest by the applicant OR
  • Photographs/ digital versions of student artwork or projects accompanied by a brief applicant written description of the work and/or its meaning.

Accepted file formats include: DOC, DOCX, PDF, TXT, RTF, XLS, XLSX, BMP, GIF, JPEG, PNG or a link to an accessible, shared video/audio file.

Maximum 3 samples of student original work OR Maximum 3 pieces of artwork with the artist(s) identified accompanied by a brief description of how the work has influenced the applicant

* Video submission should include more than a performance. Please include content where the student applicant is articulating their interest and desire to attend the requested program.

**Samples of student submissions from Fall 2023 have been included for your reference and to help applicants generate their own unique and personal submissions. Student artwork and descriptions are not to be copied, downloaded or saved.

Applicant submissions must adhere to all TDSB policies and procedures, including P031 - Human Rights. Expressions of Interest that contravene TDSB policies and procedures will be addressed and the applications will be deemed incomplete.

Incomplete applications will not be considered.
