Alexandra Cosenzo (East Hanover/Hanover Park) and senior
Casey Schieda (Monroe Twp./Monroe Twp.) were chosen
All-ECAC Honorable Mention by the Eastern College Athletic Conference. Cosenzo and Schieda are the first Stockton softball players to receive ECAC recognition since Dominique Dorris in 2015.
Cosenzo, an NJAC First Team honoree, hit .310 with three homers and 28 RBI, which tied Schieda for the team lead. Among the first baseman's 39 hits were seven doubles and one triple. With her three long balls, Cosenzo broke the school record for home runs in a career with 18, surpassing the mark of 16 by
Joey Afflitto (2009-12).
This season, Cosenzo became the Stockton record holder for career RBI with 111, topping the mark of 110 by Kelly Dodd (2007-10). Cosenzo earned her first NJAC First Team nod this year after two consecutive Second Team selections.
Schieda finished her career with a tremendous senior season. The third baseman led the team in batting (.365), doubles (10), walks (25), slugging percentage (.540) and on base percentage (.484). Schieda also tied for the team lead in hits (45), home runs (4) and RBI (28).
She tied the school record and led the NJAC in walks, and also finished fifth in the conference in on-base percentage, tied for seventh in homers and ninth in runs.
Schieda earned her second straight NJAC Second Team honor this season and put her name firmly in the Stockton record books. Schieda finished her four-year career at Stockton second school history in walks (63), third in runs (92), fourth in homers (14), fifth in doubles (30), tied for seventh ini RBI (76) and tied for eighth in hits (135).
