Patchogue, NY – Stockton University (1-0) started the 2022 season in fine fashion with a 1-0 victory over St. Joe's -LI (0-1) on Thursday afternoon.
Sydney Williams (Millville/Millville) scored the lone goal of the game for the Ospreys.
The Ospreys dominated the play outshooting St. Joe's 13-1, including 6-0 during the first 45 minutes of play. Williams potted her tally off a rebound at the 5:18 mark and the defense made it stand up.
Stockton tried to advance the lead but hit the crossbar twice in the second half, once by
Riley Finnegan (Pennington/Hopewell Valley) and the other by
Sophia Drea (Medford/Medford).
Sophomore
Megan Brady (Rockaway/Morris Knolls) earned her first career shutout in net without having to make a save.
Stockton will host the Stockton Classic this weekend, taking on Albright at 2:30 pm, followed by Kean vs. Scranton at 5pm. All games this season will be played on the Turf Field on Pomona Road due to construction at G. Larry James Stadium.
