An Echo in Time

Geraldine Manson, C'tasi:a being honoured at the Gabriola Museum

Recently, we partnered with Snuneymuxw author and elder Geraldine Manson, C’tasi:a and the Gabriola Museum to produce Snuneymuxw History Written in Places and Spaces: Ancestors’ Voices --An Echo in Time.

This wonderful full-colour booklet presents knowledge and stories of the extensive petroglyphs of Gabriola Island, in the traditional, unceded territory of the Snuneymuxw First Nation. The booklet is part of a larger reconciliation project and partnership between the Gabriola Museum and Geraldine Manson and the Snuneymuxw that will see the construction of an ancestors’ village at the museum to house and interpret the museum’s collection of petroglyph replicas.

We were delighted to be invited to participate in the project, and to contribute our bookmaking skills and the costs of printing as a donation.

The launch of this book took place on June 20, 2022 at the Gabriola Museum. Some of our staff were invited to speak at the event. Here is a video of two of our staff members, Rob West (Acquisitions Editor) and Greg Green (Design Director), speaking at the event.

All proceeds from the sale of the booklet will benefit projects between the Snuneymuxw First Nation and the Gabriola Museum as we all work towards reconciliation and decolonization.

If you are interested in purchasing a print copy of the book, you can get it either from
