DC Public Schools Facilities

Our Mission

The Facilities Division is comprised of three sub-teams that work collectively to design, create and maintain modern school facilities to ensure students are prepared to succeed. We adopt human-centered design principles to foster diverse, healthy, sustainable and inspiring learning environments that emphasize equity throughout the District.

1. Facilities Planning and Design (FPD) is responsible for planning and designing DCPS' modernizations, additions and expansions to ensure public schools are equipped to handle evolving programmatic needs.

2. Facilities Management (FM) is responsible for DCPS' work order management to ensure public schools are well-maintained.

3. Small Capitals (Small Caps) is responsible for small renovation projects that solve a specific problem or make a targeted improvement to a DCPS facility. Broadly, the Small Caps team fills the gap between larger FPD projects and FM work orders.
