COVID-19 Updates & Campus Protocols
- More Testing Appointments. In the October 15 Chancellor memo to students, Chancellor Yang stated that "the campus plans to offer up to 5,000 testing appointments each week to accommodate eligible students, faculty, and staff members who are coming to campus. In the coming weeks, we will increase our testing capacity to accommodate more testing for our campus community and to prepare for the winter and spring quarters."
- All undergraduate students living in university housing, working on campus, or attending any in-person instruction on campus will be required to be tested weekly for COVID-19. In the future, the testing frequency may be increased or decreased as determined by public health guidance and campus medical experts.
- COVID-19 testing for students with symptoms or recent exposure to a positive case is available at Student Health at no charge. Call (805) 893-7129 for testing appointments.
- UC Santa Barbara students who are NOT eligible for asymptomatic campus testing at this time can receive free testing through Santa Barbara County at the Goleta Community Center. Schedule online or call (888) 634-1123.
- UCSB has worked with Santa Barbara County to offer additional free testing at the IV Theater from 10 am - 4 pm on November 6 and 7 by appointment or walk-in.
- For COVID-19 related questions, please contact the Campus COVID-19 Response Team at ucsb-covid19@ucsb.edu or (805) 893-3113.

Safety Tips and Information
While most students are not on campus, we are still taking Halloween seriously and have implemented new measurements.
- Stay at Home: On behalf of UC Santa Barbara, Santa Barbara City College, the County of Santa Barbara, the City of Goleta, and residents of Isla Vista, we have asked students and Isla Vista residents to keep Halloween a stay-at-home event. UCSB, SBCC, and the Isla Vista Community Services District will all be hosting virtual comedy shows, virtual concerts, and virtual contests for students and Isla Vista residents that will NOT be attended live nor open to the community at large. Per County guidelines, private gatherings due to the COVID-19 pandemic are prohibited, so that an unintended street party does not develop and endanger the greater Santa Barbara area.
- No Overnight Guest: No overnight guests are allowed in any UCSB residence halls through the duration of the fall quarter.
- Festival Ordinance: The festival ordinance (6-70.01) is in effect from 6:00 pm on Monday, October 26 through Wednesday, November 4 at 7 am. This ordinance means no live or recorded music can be heard outside of residences for the duration of the above dates and carries a $500 fine.

Halloween Virtual Events Thursday, Oct. 29 to Sunday, Oct. 31, 2020
In order to continue encouraging students to stay at home during this Halloween season, the UCSB and Isla Vista Community have teamed up to create fun and safe virtual events for students.
- Halloween at Home: Halloween at Home is a student's one-stop-shop for all UCSB and Isla Vista Community activities, which includes virtual concerts, comedy shows, and much more!
- Shoreline: Students can also check out Shoreline to view many of the fun virtual events beginning Thursday through various UCSB departments.

Election Day Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2020
With the National Election Day coming soon, we want students to keep in mind that we are still observing COVID-19 safety guidelines. For those few students staying on-campus or within the Isla Vista community, there will be one polling site location, the Vista Room in the Santa Catalina Residence Hall. It will be open from October 31 to November 3. More information can be found on the UCSB Voter Registration site.
