The Future of Association Boards (FAB) Survey

The Future of Association Boards (FAB) Survey will be the association community’s first comprehensive tracking survey of board composition, practices, and performance. The purpose of the FAB Survey is to gather information that can help association board directors/officers, chief executive officers/executive directors, and other contributors better understand the current state and future direction of boards throughout the US association community.

FAQ Questions

This FAQ will answer several key questions for all stakeholders in the association community. If you have additional questions, please contact Jeff De Cagna, executive advisor for Foresight First LLC, at jeff@foresightfirst.io.

Who will complete the FAB Survey?

Participating associations will have their board presiding officer (chair, president, etc.) and the chief executive officer complete the survey. Each version of the survey will be slightly different. Both officers must complete the survey for the input to be included in the survey results.

Will the survey results be shared with the association community?

Impexium and Foresight First LLC will collaborate to issue a report on the survey’s key findings in July 2024, and will conduct a public webinar for the association community regarding the report at the time of its release. In addition, interesting and important survey results on key issues facing association boards will be shared through social media channels throughout 2024.

Will you share individual survey responses with the association community?

Absolutely not. We cannot stress enough how seriously we take the privacy and confidentiality of the survey responses. Under no circumstances will the individual survey responses of board presiding officers or CEOs be shared with the association community.

Who can participate in the survey?

Board presiding officers and CEOs of US-based associations serving as of the survey opening date (April 23, 2024) are eligible to respond to the survey. We want to organize a group of associations that will commit to completing the survey. Please fill out this form to confirm your association’s participation in the FAB Survey!

By completing this survey, your presiding officer will 1) develop a deeper understanding of the issues facing other association board chairs and presidents around the country, 2) gain actionable insights that the two of you can use to strengthen your board’s performance, and 3) make a clear and meaningful contribution to advancing the association community. When will the survey open and close?

The FAB Survey will open on Tuesday, April 23, 2024 at noon EDT. The survey will be open for four weeks, and will close on Tuesday, May 21, 2024 at 11:59 pm PDT.
