Food for Fines

Food for Fines Fall 2024

November 4- 27, 2024

Food for Fines is a program that allows those with qualified parking citations to pay them off through donations of shelf-stable food. All donations will go to the UT Outpost food pantry for students. The program runs from November 4, 2024 through November 27, 2024. Eligible Citations. Only citations issued between March 31, 2024 and October 30, 2024 will be eligible for dismissal.

Terms and Conditions

  • Only one eligible citation per person can be dismissed.
  • Eligible citation dismissal is for the original citation amount only. If late fees or collection fees are due, they MUST BE PAID SEPERATELY for PTS to accept the donation for citation dismissal.
  • Citations that are already paid are not eligible for refund to participate in the program.

Eligible Donations

  • 2-pound bags of any rice variety
  • 16 oz bags or boxes of dry pasta
  • 2-pound bags of dry beans, lentils, etc
  • 10 oz cans/boxed shelf-stable soups
  • We only accept soup, dry pasta, bags of beans, or bags of rice - no substitutions.
  • Minimum of 10 ounces (oz.) per can of soup, 16 ounces of pasta,  or 2-pound bags of beans or rice
  • CANNOT combine multiple smaller sized cans to equal 10 ounces.
  • CANNOT combine multiple smaller sized cans to equal a total number of ounces.
  • CANNOT combine multiple smaller sized bags or boxes of dry pasta to equal 16 ounces.
  • CANNOT combine multiple smaller sized bags or boxes to equal a total number of ounces.
  • CANNOT combine multiple smaller bags of beans or rice to equal 2 pounds.
  • CAN combine soup, pasta, beans, and rice for required total number of items
  • Must be unexpired.
  • Must be sealed and unopened.
  • Quantity (cans of soup larger than 10 ounces; bags or boxes of dry pasta larger than 16 ounces; and bags of dry beans or rice larger than 2 pounds are acceptable):
    • $15-$35 Citations: FIVE items from above eligible list are required for citation dismissal
    • $36-$75 Citations: EIGHT items from above eligible list are required for citation dismissal
  • A can that is over 10 ounces is still considered ONE can, and the extra ounces cannot be used to count for more cans.
  • A box or bag of dry pasta that is over 16 ounces is still considered as ONE item, and the extra ounces cannot be used to count for more items.
  • A bag that is over 2 pounds is still considered ONE bag, and the extra pounds cannot be used to count for more bags.
  • Glass containers are not eligible for donation.

Eligible Citations

Other Donations Welcome

Even if you do not have citations and just want to contribute to the UT Outpost food pantry for students, you can drop off your non-perishable food donations at any of the eight staffed garage offices around campus.
