Stockton Extends Unbeaten Streak to Seven with 2-0 Victory

Galloway, NJ – Stockton University (9-1-1, 2-0-1 NJAC) ran their unbeaten streak to seven straight matches with a 2-0 win over Rowan University (4-5, 1-2 NJAC) on Wednesday night. Madison Dorney (Washington Twp./Washington Twp.) and Dasey DiElmo (Little Egg Harbor/Pinelands) both tallied their first markers of the season for the Ospreys.

The teams battled through the first 45 minutes of play, scrapping to a scoreless first half. Rowan held a slim 5-2 margin in shots but neither team could get anything through to the net. The half ended in a 0-0 draw.

Stockton finally broke the scoreless drought in the 62nd minute. After a corner kick by Sydney Williams (Millville/Millville) into the box, Susan Porambo (Millersville, PA/Penn Manor) hit a shot off a Prof defender. The ball popped into the air, where Dorney headed it in for a 1-0 lead. It was the only corner kick by Stockton during the final half.

At the 84:38 mark, DiElmo scored the highlight reel goal of the night. The junior raced ahead into the right side of the Rowan box and her right footed blast to the far low left corner hit the net, to give the Ospreys the insurance marker at 2-0.

From there the Stockton defense took over and captured the victory to extend the unbeaten streak to seven straight games. It was the first time Stockton came away victorious against the Profs since 2015.

Jennifer Devault (Mullica Hill/Kingsway) posted her third consecutive shutout, making one save. The junior has not allowed a goal this season in net for the Ospreys.

Bristol Pizzuto also made one save for Rowan in goal.

Stockton will take to the road for their next contest, as the Ospreys will travel to Mahwah on Saturday to face Ramapo. Game time is set for 1pm.
