Stockton Advances to CSAC Title Game; Poli Breaks Assist Record

Galloway, NJ – Stockton University (15-2) advanced to the CSAC championship match with a resounding 31-7 win over Rosemont College (8-10) on Tuesday night.  Reegan Capozzoli (Wayne/Wayne Valley) scored a career-high seven goals and dished two assists for a personal best nine points to lead Stockton.
 
The match also saw Dante Poli (Doylestown, PA/Central Bucks South) break the single season assist mark with six assists on the night, shattering the record set by Erik Anderson with 54 in 2019. He leads the league with 59 assists on the year.
 
The gamed started slowly until Eric D'Arminio (Roxbury/Roxbury) got the Ospreys rolling with a man-up goal at 9:02 of the first period. Five straight goals followed with Poli scoring his first of the night, then assisting on two straight by Capozzoli and Hayden Smallwood (Margate/Ocean City). The tally by Smallwood gave Poli the record at the 6:56 mark of the first stanza.
 
After the Ravens got on the board to make it 6-1, Capozzoli tallied three more times for a 9-1 lead after one frame. A 10-0 second period put the game out of reach, with Capozzoli and Luc Swedlund (Randolph/Randolph) scoring three times each in the period. Swedlund has moved into second place in NCAA Division III history with 267 goals in his career.
 
Chase Mendyk (Cape May/Lower Cape May) scored three goals, with Jake Waltz (Mickleton/Kingsway Regional) and Colin Hopkins (Springfield, PA/Springfield Twp.) adding two markers and an assist each as Stockton outscored Rosemont 12-6 in the second half.   
 
Poli added two goals and six assists for an eight-point night, with Hopkins totaling four points with a goals and three helpers. Lucas Novack (Rockaway/Morris Hills) won 12-15 faceoffs (80%) with a game-high 10 ground balls on the night.
 
Goalkeeper Eric Lindskog (Montville/Montville) started, playing 32:33 in net and made five saves. He gave way to Matt Rotola (Randolph/Randolph) who finished up the game, also making five saves.
 
Mason Dennis scored four goals for the Ravens, with Navarro Blakes adding a goal and two assists. Freshman J. Patrick O'Donnell, Jr. scored the last goal of the game, his first career tally. Goalkeeper Mark Porter made 12 saves for Rosemont.
 
The Ospreys will host the CSAC championship game for the third straight year. The No. 1 seed Ospreys will host No. 2 seed Montclair State on Saturday at 1pm. The Ospreys downed the Red Hawks 12-11 on April 2.
