Galloway, NJ – Stockton University (5-1, 1-1 NJAC) used a smothering defense in the first half and cruised to a 75-57 win over Rutgers-Camden (2-5, 0-2 NJAC) on Wednesday evening. Â
Kyion Flanders (Wildwood/Wildwood) scored the first basket of the game and in doing so, reached the 1,000-point mark for his career. Flanders is the 32nd player in Stockton history to achieve the milestone.

The Ospreys, who led wire-to-wire, jumped out early only to see the Scarlet Raptors close within one point at 14-13. That was as close as the visitors would come as Stockton rattled off 12 straight points for a 26-13 margin with 4:52 left before the break.

Rutgers-Camden pulled within six at 26-20 but could not score in the final 3:44, watching the Ospreys pot the final 12 markers of the half for a 38-20 halftime advantage. The home team shot 56.0% (14-25) while holding the Raptors to 31.8% (7-22) shooting in taking the lead after 20 minutes.

Rutgers-Camden shot better in the final half, but the Ospreys were able to hold the Raptors at bay in the last half of play in the contest. Stockton used all available players down the stretch in the 75-57 win.

DJ Campbell (Vineland/Vineland) topped all players with 14 points and four steals, with
Jonathan Azoroh (Ewing/Ewing) adding a season-high 12 markers. Azoroh and
Kadian Dawkins (Eastampton/Rancocas Valley) grabbed six rebounds each, with Dawkins dishing five assists.

Stockton will travel to Mahwah, NJ on Saturday for a matchup against the Ramapo Roadrunners for the next game. Tip-off is scheduled for 1pm.
