Clarksville, Tenn (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Tennesseans for Student Success invites parents, educators, community leaders and high school students who are passionate about literacy and college career readiness to join them for a virtual community project.

Tristar Reads is an annual summer reading program that encourages students K-12 to read at least 20 minutes per day during the summer. The program runs from May 1 – September 7, 2020, and will award the reader who logs the most amount of minutes in elementary, middle, and high school with a $1,000 scholarship.

For the first time, Tennesseans for Student Success is expanding their summer reading scholarship program to include an opportunity for parents, teachers, librarians, high school students and community leaders to serve their communities as Tristar Reads Team Leaders. What’s more, the program is 100% online.

Team Leaders will be asked to recruit students to their team. If they successfully recruit students for summer reading, TSS will donate up to $1500 to a literacy nonprofit, library or school library in their community.

To help Team Leaders recruit students to the reading scholarship program, TSS will provide promotional materials, including:

  • Social media posts, text message drafts, graphics and posters to share on social platforms, and template emails to forward to your networks.
  • Optional training and networking opportunities throughout the summer.
  • Certificate of Recognition (to qualify, you must recruit at least 15 new students).
  • Bi-weekly Team Leader highlight on our Tristar Reads Newsletter.
  • Opportunities to use your voice by sharing a video or writing a blog post to highlight the importance of literacy in your community.
