One of the biggest box office disappointments arrives on streaming this week. Snow White is one of the most expensive films ever made, with a budget approaching $300 million. Unfortunately for Disney, the movie failed to connect with audiences as Snow White ended its theatrical run with just over $200 million worldwide. The live-action movie has quickly garnered strong streaming numbers for Disney+.

Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) is still settling in as Captain America when the new President of the United States, Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross (Harrison Ford) asks him to set aside their differences and reform the Avengers. Before they can even try to attempt that, Samuel Sterns (Tim Blake Nelson) brings the world to the brink of war and manipulates Sam’s friend, Isaiah Bradley (Carl Lumbly), and other pawns to get his revenge on Ross.

Natalie Portman stars as Charlotte Purdue, a genius who is very unhappy with her life as a museum curator. So it’s just as well that her older brother, Luke Purdue (John Krasinski), just cost her that job by stealing a painting out from under nose.
Luke is an archeologist with a bad reputation, but he’s got the backing of a dying billionaire, Owen Carver (Domhnall Gleeson), to track down and locate the fabled Fountain of Youth. After Luke ropes Charlotte into their quest, the reunited siblings have to deal with an enigmatic woman named Esme (Eiza Gonzalez), who is determined to get to the fountain before they can.
The Gorge (2025)
Anya Taylor-Joy and Miles Teller star in The Gorge, a sci-fi dystopian thriller. Appointed to posts in guard towers on opposite sides of a vast, highly classified gorge, two operatives grow close to one another as they protect the planet from an undisclosed, mysterious evil lurking within the gorge.
After bonding from a distance, their connection is tested when a cataclysmic event finally rattles the gorge and threatens to release the evil upon the world.

While audiences largely enjoyed The Brutalist, it’s a three-and-a-half-hour epic with no shortage of pain and suffering. Naturally, that led it to earn ten Oscar nominations and three wins (including Best Actor for Adrien Brody).
Nonetheless, The Brutalist is true cinema, following László Toth’s (Brody) escape from post-war Europe to America to rebuild his life, work, and marriage to his wife Erzsébet (Felicity Jones) after the chaos of war. When prominent industrialist Harrison Lee Van Buren (Guy Pearce) notices his talent for building, his life goes on a very different path.

With all the power at her disposal, Samuel simply assumes (correctly) that Romy wants to feel powerless.

You won’t see her picture on the front of a Wheeties box, and advertisers aren’t flocking to sign her. Winning this battle is going to be far more difficult for Claressa than a boxing ring ever was.

There aren’t a lot of options in Vegas for an aging showgirl, and Shelly’s desperation is palpable. But her best friend, Annette (Jamie Lee Curtis), repeatedly proves that there’s still further to fall. Shelly also makes an attempt to reconnect with her estranged daughter, Hannah Gardner (Billie Lourd), but that’s just one in a long line of relationships that Shelly torched in favor of the show. That bill has come due, and Shelly has no idea if she has any kind of future ahead of her.

You don’t need to have seen any of those to understand what’s happening in this throwback story to 1988. Teenager Lori Granger (India Fowler) is the focus here, and she’s tired of being a social outcast because everyone thinks her mother murdered her dad. Lori is out to change everything by earning the prom queen title, even though her rival, Tiffany Falconer (Fina Strazza), isn’t going to simply let Lori take it from her. However, these young ladies have a much bigger problem than each other. A masked serial killer is methodically taking out victims at the prom, and at the rate things are going, either Lori or Tiffany could be next on the hit list.
I’m Still Here (2024)

Of course, nothing is ever easy.
Better Man (2024)
77%The biggest box office flop of the year and one of the biggest ever, Better Man, grossed just over $20 million worldwide against a $110 million budget. The extraordinary loss is much more on marketing failures, however, than on the actual quality of the movie, which has received good reviews. Based on British pop star Robbie Williams’ rise, fall, and resurgence, Williams made the somewhat bizarre call to cast himself as a CGI monkey in the largely autobiographical film.
While the film is about the challenges of fame and success, the greatest irony is that Williams was nowhere near a big enough star to make a film like this in the first place.
