Galloway, N.J. - The Stockton University field hockey team qualified for a
Zag Field Hockey/NFHCA Division III National Academic Team Award from the National Field Hockey Coaches Association. The Ospreys earned the award for the ninth straight year and 14th time in the last 16 years.

The award goes to all squads with a team grade point average of 3.30 or higher during the Fall 2019 semester. Stockton was one of 147 teams in NCAA Division III to qualify. All seven NJAC teams made the list.

Individually, 18 of Stockton's 26 players qualified for the
Zag Field Hockey/NFHCA Division III National Academic Squad by posting cumulative grade point averages of 3.30 or higher. The list was topped by seniors
Jennelle Long (Matawan/Matawan) and
Emily Gilligan (West Deptford/West Deptford), who earned the recognition for the fourth straight year.

Niya Calloway (Matawan/Matawan) joined Long and Gilligan to make it three seniors who qualified for academic honors. Eight juniors garnered accolades for their work in the classroom including
Casey Cordonna (Barrington/Haddon Hts.),
Madison Dancisin (Little Egg Harbor/Pinelands),
Lauryn Flynn (Warren Grove/Southern Regional) and
Issy Gilhooley (Ocean City/Ocean City).

Fellow juniors
Isabelle Marsh (Franklinville/Delsea),
Arielis Reyes (Pennsuaken/Pennsauken)
Taylor Van Syckel (Wanaque/Lakeland) and
Kassidy Wentzell (Hammonton/St. Joseph's) completed the group of eight third-year players to qualify.

The sophomores to earn spots on the National Academic Squad were
Lainie Allegretto (Ocean City/Ocean City),
Kelsey Andrus (Mays Landing/Oakcrest) and
Gianna Morganti (Berlin/St. Joseph's).

Four freshmen also qualified for the National Academic Squad in their first semester of college. Those players were
Isabella Ceraso (Marlton/Cherokee),
Rhian Freire (Mays Landing/Cedar Creek),
Madison Maguire (Woolwich/Kingsway) and
Kelly Mollahan (Boonton/Boonton).

In 2019, Stockton went 14-4 and qualified for the NJAC Tournament for the second straight year and third time in the last seven seasons. The Ospreys came within one victory of the school record of 15 wins in 2018. All four of their defeats came against ranked opponents, including three versus teams ranked fourth in the nation or higher.
