About Us
The Elmhurst Corona Resource Collaborative (ECRC) consists of twenty-five local organizations working together to support our community. We partner with each other and with community members to ensure that families have access to food; resources for jobs and financial security; pathways for community-anchored health and healing programs; and shared educational and cultural experiences.
The ECRC was established in May 2020 to meet the needs of the Elmhurst and Corona communities during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic. We came together to marshal our collective resources to help families and neighbors heal and rebuild. Now we continue to combine our efforts to positively impact our community over the long-term.
Please join us! Your support will help us provide funds to the organizations providing a deep and direct impact to nurture the community.
Health and Healing
At the onset of the pandemic, Corona and Elmhurst were labeled the epicenter of health and economic trauma from the pandemic. The ECRC spearheaded a program of targeted vaccine education, resulting in our communities becoming the top most vaccinated neighborhoods in New York City by the summer of 2021. We continue to host programs focused on vaccinations, well-being, mental health, and addressing disparities in public health and medicine.
Education and Community Welfare
Through festivals, back to school events, and holiday celebrations, ECRC partners create cultural and educational experiences for community members to gather, play, and learn. Events include a Dia de los Muertos celebration (Queens Museum), Dragon Boat Festival (Queens Borough President’s Office), Tres Reyes celebration (La Jornada and NYSCI), a Children’s Day festival (La Jornada and NYSCI), and NYSCI’s annual Community Day Celebration.
Town Halls
ECRC Partners hold virtual and in-person town hall meetings focused on health and well-being. Each event, hosted by an ECRC partner institution, brings doctors, community leaders, and public health experts to bring light on topics like vaccinations and mental health. They are held alternately in English and Spanish. To see past town halls, please visit CommonPoint Queens and Elmcor.
