Something that's been key to ham radio is the humble QSL card. It was, until the days of the internet, the only way we could've confirmed a contact with another ham anywhere in the world. However, the advent of eQSL-ing has seen to it that people don't send QSL cards as much as they used to. Why would they? If all you have to do is click a button and send a confirmation request to get the contact to count towards an award, why wouldn't you? Almost all of the appeal today is how cool it is to receive a postcard from Ralf in Wald-Michelbach or Jean-Marie in Wasserbillig. However with contests and the rise of FT8, you can easily acquire a backlog of hundreds of QSOs that you'd need to send QSL cards out for. That's where I'm hoping UniQSL can come in. My current version of UniQSL (specifically UniQSL-2) takes the ADIF file that's generated from sites like QRZ logbook and creates an easily printable .pdf file (three QSLs per page) with all of your contacts (barring exceptions where the data from QRZ logbook is incomplete). Also, I'm hoping to allow you to upload a photo of your choice (not just the sweet "placeholder" of the homebrew antenna tuner my mentor built for me). The days of handwriting hundreds of QSL cards after a DX-pedition might be behind us! (Though maybe not labelling hundreds of letters...for now!) If you'd like to try UniQSL-2, we'll be accepting QSL card requests until the end of the year. Please visit https://sites.google.com/stu.austinisd.org/uniqslonline/home to learn more!
I do not send paper unless the rare DX does Not use LOTW. Thanks for a version that uses the adi file information to make a card!!!!!! KOOL. Best 73 K2HAT
Copy that; I probably would've done the same if I hadn't been introduced to paper logging at my high school club! Thanks for the support; I am excited to see where this project is gonna go!
Here's another photo of UniQSL-2 in action; here you can see the some of the 67 pages generated from the K5LBJ QRZ logbook. https://iili.io/Ju5gEdP.png
Eventually, yes but for now we're handling all of the QSL card generation by hand (i.e. we take the ADIF file you send to us via email, put it into the program, get the printable .pdf file, and email the .pdf back).
I wasn't planning on adding satellite names but I can definitely look into; what are you looking to do with this feature?
well currently I'm using winlog32 for logging and what lotw uses has the sat name in it so I just thought since its already is in the adif, the qsl generator could display that Currently if someone requests a qsl card from me, I have my original qsl card as a pdf, edit qso info on that then exchange via email, getting more requests for that type of exchange, very manual. heres yesterdays adif qso info from satellite AO-7 <CALL:6>WB8DDV <PFX:3>WB8 <QSO_DATE:8>20231214 <TIME_ON:4>2025 <TIME_OFF:4>2027 <FREQ:7:N>432.000 <BAND:4>70cm <MODE:3>SSB <APP_WL32_MODE:3>SSB <TX_PWR:2>75 <RST_SENT:2>55 <RST_RCVD:2>55 <PROP_MODE:3>SAT <COMMENT:4>AO-7 <SAT_NAME:4>AO-7 <DXCC:3:N>291 <EOR>
