All,
As we prepare for the transition from TMC to EJGH next week, there is important information and reminders to share.
The Louisiana Department of Health has approved the construction at East Jefferson General Hospital (EJGH) effective January 4th. This is great news and formally confirms the transition is a “go”.
Below is a summary of key dates and important resources that will be available to you throughout the transition period. Additionally, daily huddles will be scheduled with senior leadership to ensure consistent and frequent communication of information as the transition and integration at EJGH progresses.
KEY DATES
Effective 7am on Monday, January 8th, inpatient admissions will stop at TMC. Elective surgeries will also stop at this time; only emergent cases will be performed. Additionally, the TMC Emergency Department will begin to function as a freestanding ED.
As appropriate, patients will be actively discharged during the week of January 8th.
Effective 6am on Saturday, January 13th, remaining inpatients at TMC will be transferred to EJGH or surrounding hospitals based on availability/ census.
Many downtown TMC-based clinics will cease operations on January 12th. Clinics that are relocating to EJGH will be moved over the weekend of January 13th-14th. The new clinics at EJGH will open for sessions on January 16th. Note: please remember to take all personal belongings you may have in your clinics with you no later than January 13th to avoid a potential issue during the move.
A new permanent multispecialty clinic will be established downtown – this will include:
Cardiology
Colorectal Surgery
Endocrinology
General Surgery
Infectious Disease
Internal Medicine
Nephrology
Neurosciences
Obstetrics & Gynecology
Pulmonology
Additionally, the Professional Athlete, Resident Psychiatry and Urology clinics will remain downtown. The Dermatology and Ophthalmology clinics will remain downtown until the Phase II move in April.

There are three hotlines that we encourage you to use as a resource throughout the transition to report issues or concerns. Physical business-sized will be available as well; digital copy is below.
