2023 Poster Contest

2023 Tennessee State Fire Marshal's Poster Contest Rules

Fire Prevention Week Theme 2023

The National Fire Prevention (NFPA) has announced the theme for this year's Fire Prevention Week: "Cooking Safety Starts With You." Fire Prevention Week, which will be held Oct. 8-14, 2023, is an opportunity for fire departments and the citizens they protect to raise awareness about the importance of fire safety.

The State Fire Marshal's Office poster contest is open to all Tennessee students in kindergarten through 12th grade.

Each winner will receive a Certificate of Achievement from Tennessee Governor Bill Lee, a $50 check, a prize bag, and an invitation to our poster contest luncheon and awards ceremony which will be held in Nashville in February 2024.

Students are encouraged to submit their artwork to the contest through their local fire department or directly to the State Fire Marshal's Office.

  • All submitted posters must be students' original work and must emphasize this year's theme.
  • Posters may be any size but must be square or rectangular.
  • Posters can be submitted as a file upload through our website. When submitting a poster through our website, please make sure the photo of the poster is clear. Accepted file types: PDF, DOC, DOCX, PNG, JPG, JPEG, and GIF.
  • All poster entries must be accompanied by a completed registration form.

A link to submit poster entries will be posted on our website beginning Oct. 8, 2023. Deadline for entries is Oct. 31, 2023.

Art judges from across Tennessee will review the entries in early December and winners will be notified soon thereafter.
