Gloria Trevi and Top Latin Songwriters Honored at 23rd Annual BMI Latin Music Awards
J Balvin, Horacio Palencia, Jesus Omar Tarazon and Sony/ATV Music Publishing Among Honorees
BMI last night proudly announced the songwriters and publishers of Latin music’s most-performed songs of the past year on U.S. radio and television at the 23rd annual BMI Latin Music Awards at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Beverly Hills, CA.
Multi-platinum Latin music singer/songwriter, actress and philanthropist Gloria Trevi received the BMI President’s Award in recognition of her influential role revolutionizing Latin Pop. To celebrate, Trevi electrified the audience with a stunning performance of “Todos Me Miran,” El Favor De La Soledad,” “Psicofonía,” “Me Siento Tan Sola,” “El Curita, La Niña y La Loca,” “Hoy No Voy A Gritar,” “Virgen De Las Virgenes,” “Como Yo Te Amo” and “Doctor Psiquiatra.”
Horacio Palencia/GSALL Music was honored with BMI Regional Mexican Song of the Year for the chart-topping hit “No Me Pidas Perdón.” J Balvin/Universal-Música Unica Publishing received the BMI Contemporary Latin Song of the Year award for his reggaeton megahit “Ay Vamos.” Horacio Palencia and Jesús Omar Tarazón were both given the BMI Latin Songwriter of the Year honors for each writing four songs that rank among the year’s most performed. In addition, with fourteen songs among the most performed, Sony/ATV Music Publishing clinched the prestigious BMI Latin Publisher of the Year award.
The 23rd annual BMI Latin Music Awards were hosted by BMI President and CEO Mike O’Neill and BMI Vice President, Latin Music Delia Orjuela. BMI represents Latin songwriters based in the U.S. and around the globe through reciprocal agreements with sister societies in the songwriters’ home countries.
