UTRECHT, THE NETHERLANDS, LONDON and SIOUX FALLS, SD – The ATM Security Association (ASA) is proud to announce the launch of its new global Crisis and Crime Management Intelligence System (CCMIS).

The world’s first global crime intelligence database for the ATM industry, CCMIS is a centralized, searchable database of ATM incidents that will help every stakeholder in the industry from ATM deployers to security specialists and manufacturers understand current crime trends, methods of attack, crime migration patterns and emerging forms of attack. The database allows members to report an incident, search by location and type, and to pull reports, graphs and stats.

“With ATM crime increasing worldwide as lockdowns are eased, it is more important than ever for ATM deployers to stay ahead of criminals,” said Mike Lee, CEO of the ATM Industry Association (ATMIA) and President of ASA. “The new CCMIS database, the first of its kind for our industry, is a fantastic tool that will help ATM deployers protect their investments and allow security professionals and manufacturers to understand the types of attacks occurring around the globe so they can develop new prevention methods.”

“Congratulations to Douglas Russell and Eric Cross, with the help of industry thought leaders and security experts, for a building a brilliant system,” Lee continues. “This is a strong new benefit for ASA members, will help strengthen ATM security and benefit the industry as a whole.”

“CCMIS provides our industry with a truly global intelligence system covering ATM fraud, physical attacks and critical crisis events such as pandemics, terrorist attacks and extreme environmental disasters that may impact ATMs,” said Douglas Russell, CEO of DFR Risk Management, a consulting service that specializes in ATM and self-service terminal fraud and security risk management.

“Ahead of the release we have populated the system with known incidents from around the world. Currently we have more than 160 incidents in the system, including helpful information on reducing risk to ATMs from the current global pandemic,” Russell continues. “CCMIS provides an excellent opportunity to exploit actionable global intelligence to enhance the security and safety of ATMs.”

Operated by ATMIA and ASA, CCMIS was designed to be user friendly, with privacy and confidentiality built into the system, and to provide an abundance of data to the industry to recognize and develop the most effective tools to combat current and emerging threats.

“Our goal was to build a user-friendly system that was robust enough to encompass the many types of incidents and provide the industry with easy to access stats on ATM threat trends,” Eric Cross, ATMIA Web Development and IT Director, said. “We feel we have exceeded our primary objective, but as with all software the team looks forward to enhancing the system as subscribers provide feedback.”

“Together, we can defeat the ever-changing threats facing our industry,” Lee said. “The CCMIS database is the most powerful tool yet devised in the industry to help us do that.”

Access to the new CCMIS is just one of the many benefits available to ASA subscribers, in addition to the use of global security best practices, access to a Theoretical Risk Register for combating potential and new emerging threats, and showrooms for subscribers.

Membership starts at just $250 US for small businesses with packages available for financial institutions, ATM suppliers and service providers, and manufacturers.
