Violins of Hope Knoxville tour continues at the Tennessee Theatre

Violins of Hope: Strings of the Holocaust played Wednesday night at the historic Tennessee Theatre. Hundreds were in attendance to hear the music of these restored violins from the holocaust, accompanied by the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra. Actors from the Clarence Brown Theatre brought to life the Jewish musicians who died alongside millions at the hands of the Nazis.

The Stanford Eisenburg Knoxville Jewish Day School is proud to bring this one-in-a-lifetime performance to East Tennessee. Violins of Hope is a collection of over 50 restored violins that were played by Jewish musicians during the Holocaust. These instruments have survived concentration camps, ghettos, pogroms and many long journeys to tell remarkable stories of injustice, suffering, resilience and survival. Most importantly, they tell the stories of hope.

The Violins of Hope exhibition is going on at the University of Tennessee Downtown Gallery where people can see over 50 restored instruments. The exhibition is going on until January 27th
