Dependable people. Reliable wheat.

About us

U.S. Wheat Associates (USW) is the export market development organization for the U.S. wheat industry. USW promotes the reliability, quality and value of all six U.S. wheat classes to wheat buyers, millers, bakers, food processors and government officials in more than 100 countries around the world. Its mission is to “Develop, maintain, and expand international markets to enhance wheat’s profitability for U.S. wheat producers and its value for their customers.” Funding is made possible through checkoff dollars, goods and services from 17 state wheat commissions and cost-share grants from the USDA’s Foreign Agricultural Service. USW does not buy, sell nor process wheat; we do help make it easier for everyone else who does. USW proudly represents the hard-working farm families that produce enough wheat every year to fill American tables, while still supplying a substantial share of world wheat trade.

🚢 Did You Know? 🌊 Ocean-going vessels play a vital role in transporting our grain from the Pacific Northwest to Asian markets, ensuring the world stays nourished. Here are some fascinating facts about these mighty ships: 1. Capacity: These vessels can carry an impressive amount of grain, with some capable of holding over 70,000 metric tons in a single voyage. That's approximately 2,800 semi-trucks hauling grain! 2. Distance: The journey from the Pacific Northwest to Asian markets can span thousands of miles, with vessels spending around 2 to 3 weeks traversing the ocean. 3. Efficiency: Despite their massive size, modern vessels are equipped with advanced technology and streamlined processes to ensure timely and efficient delivery of grain to its destination. United Grain is proud to work with these ocean giants to bring grains and oilseeds to markets around the world. 🌍🌾 #OceanShipping #PacificNorthwestGrain #UnitedGrain #UnitedForSuccess #GrainShips #CargoVessels

U.S. Wheat Associates (USW) and National Association of Wheat Growers (NAWG) shared a booth at this week's Washington Watch "Issues Forum" hosted by the National Association of Farm Broadcasters (NAFB). USW Director of Trade Policy Peter Laudeman had several discussions with members of the ag media during the event. Questions largely centered around the challenging environment for U.S. wheat exports over the last two years, and what the future holds. Laudeman fielded questions about the broader opportunity for gene editing regulations and research - new technologies that have potential for higher and more stable wheat yields in the U.S. that could bring a change in global export competitiveness. Laudeman also discussed the recent USDA announcement of $1B in funding for international food assistance, a portion of which will purchase U.S.-grown wheat for international humanitarian donations . . . .
