ATMIA Cash Deposit Survey
As part of the ATMIA Cash Revival Plan, we are working to make deposit universally available at ATMs.
A reduction in bank branches and bank ATMs in recent years is creating issues for members of the public and for small business in their handling of cash, and therefore in its use as a chosen method of payment.
Deadline to complete the survey is 30 September.

| | Cash is a SAFE choice
The British Security Industry Association (BSIA), is calling on retailers in all sectors and local authorities across the United Kingdom to recognise, acknowledge and to promote the use of cash as a SAFE choice of payment during and after the COVID-19 crisis.
The United Kingdom still comprehensively uses cash as a method of transaction and that, although there has been a decrease for a number of years, it is still necessary for some and a choice for everyone who wishes to get access to it.

ATMIA publishes global best practices for a new ATM hygiene for the pandemic and post-pandemic
This month's WCW Pro-Cash Newsletter featured article is from ATMIA.
ATMIA, the only global not-for-profit trade association for the ATM industry, published global best practices for a new ATM hygiene for the pandemic and post-pandemic “new normal” society.
It highlights available technologies, such as UVC scans for ATM fascias, as well as best practices for minimizing the risk of transmission of viruses and bacteria, such as social distancing at ATM queues and quarantines of cash before loading into ATM cassettes. In addition, the global industry guidelines outline technology care best practices.
As part of the new recommended regime for providing an additional comfort level for ATM customers and users while transacting at ATMs, the ATM Industry Association, through its ATM Hygiene and Safety Committee, has developed an industry response plan for any future pandemics, including setting up a Crisis Response Center with a data collection system for monitoring of impacts of any crisis impacting on ATM businesses in future, including how members across the world are responding to the new threat.

Coin Shortage Hits Retailers, Laundromats, Tooth Fairy
A convenience store chain is offering a free beverage or sandwich in exchange for them. A laundromat owner drove 4 hours across state lines to get $8,000 worth. A young girl in Illinois wrote the tooth fairy saying she’ll gladly take dollars as a substitute if it helps.
There is a shortage of coins across the U.S., yet another odd side effect of the coronavirus pandemic. Quarters, dimes and nickels aren’t circulating as freely as they usually do because many businesses have been closed and consumers aren’t out spending as much.

ATMs get a boost from the pandemic
The pandemic is forcing many to "shelter-in-place" resulting in less cash spent outside the home. But as the rest of the world gets back to business, new technology in the ATM industry is helping give a boost to the industry as customers seek ways to connect with their bank while remaining safe, according to a KSL report.
ATMs with biometrics allows customers to use face recognition to authenticate access without the user having to touch akeypad. Customers can also get the face-to-face contact they enjoyed previously at the branches through an interactive or video ATM.
